Builth Wells to Newbridge-on-Wye
After enjoying a delicious breakfast in a beautifully appointed dining room, we head into town to purchase lunch.
Today's stage compensates for yesterday's effort as it is fairly level with just some gentle upward gradients. Generally an easy day's walking, much of it along the river.
The River Wye was beautiful today as it revealed so much of its glory.
It was like we had a huge mirror beside us as we walked along. The reflections were spectacular. We couldn't help but stop, sit and enjoy. We have so loved the tranquility of today's walk by the Wye, to hear the birdsong in the trees and hedges and the gentle rippling of the water across the rocks and also such beauty reflected in the water has been a great delight. The bluebells beside the water were very bright. The Sniper was at it again.
More reflections in the mirror.
These trees created a different avenue for us to walk through. The beautiful Rhosferig Lodge.
I thought this signpost looked great, covered in character.
Just one of the many flocks of sheep we passed today.
More beautiful Welsh countryside before we had to walk along a busy road for about one kilometre before ending our day's walk in Newbridge-on-Wye. Twelve kilometres of reasonably easy walking even with heavy legs after yesterday's long, hard walk. We bought a cold drink at The New Inn and waited for our taxi to collect us. There's no available accomodation here so we were driven to Rhayader where we are staying at Ty Morgan's Inn then a taxi will drive us back to Newbridge tomorrow to start our next stage. We watched a truck negotiate this intersection. Every other car just had to wait. Our room is on the first floor, with the open window. Very quintessential English pub.
