Day 4: Charlton Kings to Birdlip

Before we could officially begin today's walk we had to walk up the long drive way again and back a mile to where we had turned off yesterday. Lineover Wood was where Ammie enjoyed reliving her childhood
This is where I saw my second deer of the walk, but it was too quick for my camera. Coming out of the Woods we enjoyed more spectacular views
Located at Seven Springs is the source of the River Chum which flows south across the Cotswolds and joins the River Thames further on. The Cotswolds Diner, a welcome morning tea stop, sits waiting for weary walkers to refuel at a pull-over along the road.
We keep walking by fields of a very green, unknown crop.
It adds another shade of green to the countryside. What a surprise to come upon
It wasn't as welcoming as we had imagined. The green fields and cloudy skies were very pleasant.
Some fellow walkers also enjoyed the views.
Ammie and myself again had fun with our cameras and the flowers.
This time a bumblebee was busy at Leckhampton Hill, a popular spot with the locals, who all seem to walk their dogs here. We passed by Ullenwood Manor and had fun calling Allan 'Ullen'. Unfortunately we took a wrong turn and became lost in the woods. The bonus was that we saw the Devil's Chimney, reported to be the place the devil threw stones at the Christians as they passed by.
Allan and Graham had fun before we discovered that we had taken the wrong turn.
Graham isn't contemplating swinging from this wire, it's a very low hanging electrical wire. We ended up at the Leckhampton Lime Kilns, when we discovered our mistake.
Our path has taken us by many stone walls in different stages of disrepair. It was interesting to come past a brand new wall and observe the wall taking shape.
Now for a very long walk down a country lane and on to Crickley Hill country park.
Some enthusiastic persons must have dragged these bean bags up here so it was good to see them being used so well.
The views were, once again, lovely. The windy tracks you can see are a mountain bike track. All that is left for the day is another walk through the woods and on to Birdlip, to our accommodation for the night at the Royal George Hotel, a beautiful old inn. We are hoping for a good night's sleep even with a wedding reception taking place on the premises.
It's interesting the places you find a defibrillator. Our evening ended pleasantly when four of our fellow walkers began to play some blue grass music as they sat around their meal table. Lovely.
